The intent of my practice is to alleviate patient suffering. From the perspective of Oriental Medicine, this is achieved by restoring balance in the body. Disease mainly occurs because the body has become unbalanced, and has therefore lost its structural and energetic integrity. Many reasons can cause this unbalance, including stress, emotions, diet, genetics, physical injury or weakness, and even the environment around us.

The focus of the treatment is always to restore balance by the use of specific modalities. One example would be the use of an acupuncture needle on a specific point(s). The point(s) would be chosen because of their ability to treat the disease. There are 365 primary points on the body that are mapped on specific channels. A point is decided on based on many factors. It may be chosen simply because of its location and proximity (near or far) to the site of an injury, or because of its energetic or structural relationship with internal structures. Many times, with careful examination, I can find one specific point on the body that is out of balance, or “blocked”. If this point is balanced, or released, rapid changes can occur in the body.
